Orlando Perillo
Orlando is passionate about design and music, investigating and producing a musical instrument for my major project has been a satisfying process, as the two fields of craft have a progressive and complementary path within product design.
“My underlining interest for product design is in the crafting process and for pieces that exploit and highlight materials to enhance the aesthetic and functional value of the work.”
Major Project: Ceramic sneer drum.

The kowhai lamp is a porcelain pendant light
that tries to replicate the natural form and positioning of the flower in the tree. It can be hung domestically in a cluster of 3 to 7 or in much greater quantities as a large lighting installation.
The ball toaster was inspired by mid century design & the work of Eero Saarinen. The name of this product is “testa de toaster”, Italian for “the head toaster”. Shown here in stainless steel, the ball-shaped toaster rests on a plinth & is designed to pivot and angle towards a desired position.
This bottle design is based on a carafe bottle style. The ball joint nozzle allows ease of mobility when pouring and functions to block the flow of liquid when the cap is secured. This product is intended for all users with the potential to be manufactured in different materials. As seen in the exploded illustration (left) the bottle is constructed out of four pieces and is assembled in that order.
