Kristina Martin

Kristina enjoys designing with solid foundations; she thrives during the research phase where she takes pleasure in discovering key insights and areas of opportunity.

“In philosophy, the abstract noun ‘design’ refers to a pattern with a purpose; I believe that all design should serve a purpose.
Good design should be thoroughly researched; it is only when the problem or issue is entirely understood that the best solution can be produced.”
ROLO

The ROLO Stool design is aimed at providing a seating option that supports and encourages aspects of 21st century learning, in particular, collaborative and conversational learning. It is a transitional piece that is suited to multiple modes of teaching and learning and is also designed to be used in a modular fashion if desired. Issues surrounding permission and authority with regard to users feeling able to reconfigure and move the stool were also addressed.

Solar Powered Communities copySolar Powered Communities is a system design which used local resources to covert a subdivision in Massey, Auckland to solar power, providing 56% of the energy needed to suffice the heating needs of the homes.
